Zephyranthes rosea [Pink Rain Lily, Rainlily, Fairy Lily, Zephyr Lily] is so named because it produces short-lived flowers only after seasonal heavy rains or storms. Zephyranthes rosea is native to the Caribbean and it has been introduced and naturalized to tropical Americas, Asia, Australia, and some Pacific Islands.
Zephyranthes rosea is a small plant; 15 to 20 cm [5.9 to 7.9 in] in height; bear five to six narrow and flattened dark green linear leaves from spherical tunicate bulbs. The single funnel-shaped flowers are borne erect or slightly inclined on scapes around 10 to 15 cm [3.9 to 5.9 in] long. The flower is fragrant six-petaled around.The perianth is bright pink with a green central perianth tube. It has six stamens and an anthers.
